1973 Single Vintage Bas Armagnac
1973 Vintage • Natural Strength 46.2% • Limited to 163 bottles • RRP $299 • Release Date: 29th May 2025
The Origin
A combination of Ugni Blanc and Colomard distilled on the now decommissioned still in Parleboscq by Monsieur Lacaze. This 1973 vintage then spent 51 long years slumbered away in Baron de Sigognac’s ancient cellar under the watchful eye of old master Monsieur Jean-Claude Guasch.
Maturing for 43 years in Limousin oak, then transferred to demi-john in 2016 after reaching peak maturity, and bottled at natural strength in 2024.
Baco is a hybrid created by Francois Baco the 1890s, following phylloxera. A cross of Folle Blanche and Noah grapes, it is well adapted to the sandy soils of the Bas-Armagnac that produce a fruity, delicate and highly revered eau de vie with great aging potential.
Baco
Originating from Charente region, the home of Cognac, but not so commonly found in vineyards used for brandy. With its high acidity, balanced flavour and lighter body, Colombard is perfect for blending in Armagnac, cognac and wine production.
