Grande Champagne 1st cru Cognac, matured in French oak and bottled at natural cask strength. An impressive old Cognac, with notes of dried fruits, roasted almonds, and chocolate eclair. Classy and complex.

The Origin

In 1893 Jean Baptiste Peyrot first started caring for the Peyrot vineyard, which has since become known as ‘Les Bergeronnettes’. His daughter, Mathilde Peyrot-Barret took charge of the humble seven-acre vineyard in 1956, upgraded the still in 1967, and one year later created this 1968 vintage Cognac. It spent 55 long years maturing in a single French oak cask from the Limousin forest, prior to being bottled ‘brut de fut’ (natural cask strength)

Known in other parts of the world as Trebianno, originally a grape varietal from Italy. Ugni Blanc makes up approximately 98% of Cognac vineyards and is favoured due its high yield. It is well known for its long ageing potential and light floral profile.

Peyrots plantation of St Emilion grapes dates back to 1928, planted between World War 1 and World War 2.

Ugni Blanc (St Emilion)
