The Origin
This 1968 vintage of hand-harvested Baco was distilled by Jean-Francois Cames on the old still at Clos du Moutouguet. Since then, it has matured in the ancient Baron de Sigognac cellar, which features one metre thick walls partially built in the 12th century.
After maturing to its full potential for 41 years in Limousin oak, it was transferred to demi-john in 2009 for an additional 15 years before being bottled at natural strength.
Baco is a hybrid created by Francois Baco the 1890s, following phylloxera. A cross of Folle Blanche and Noah grapes, it is well adapted to the sandy soils of the Bas-Armagnac that produce a fruity, delicate and highly revered eau de vie with great aging potential.
